A Cardinal’s Choir: Creating a Classroom Orchestra
*State schools can claim a contribution of £130 towards the cost of cover for one teacher per school after the event
In partnership with Suffolk Music Hub and Historic England, Thomas Wolsey 550 invites primary school teachers to enter Wolsey’s world of music. Held in the former site of Cardinal’s College and using a Wolsey inspired repertoire, teachers will:
-Develop vocal and performance strategies to use in the classroom.
-Explore whole-class composition and improvisation.
-Be given creative and sustainable ideas to elevate performance e.g. making junk instruments.
-Be gifted with the learning resources to embed within your curriculum, including tutorial video links and sound files.
This workshop is FREE * and is open to all classroom teachers in support of their music teaching. Music Subject Leaders may also wish to attend with the aim of passing learning onto non-specialist teaching staff.
This event is kindly funded by Historic England, who will be explaining how to use your local heritage to complement Arts-based learning.
There will be an opportunity for Ipswich primary schools to perform this repertoire in a summer celebration event. More details will be provided during the day.
Music is made to be enjoyed; let’s make the experience of teaching it a whole lot more fun!
